Song Description
I originally wrote this in 1996 to do as a duet with my sister Adele (yes, THAT Adele) (OK, not really). But I only had her repeat my opening verse. A while back I asked Dianne Macadam if she could write a verse, y'know, something a woman would actually say in this situation. I turned the whole thing over to Martin Young's very capable hands and this is the result. I/we hope you like it.

Lyrics
Right time For Leavin'
© 2016 H. Thomas/D. MacAdam
There's a right time, for leavin', and it might be today
Although that's not exactly what I came here to say
Ive been tryin' and tryin, to find some other way
But There's a right time, for leavin', and it might be today
Momma said 'n' I'm believin' love ain't just for today
And I know you're a good man who's just gone astray
Should I keep on believin' or just walk away
'Cause there's a right time, for leavin', and it might be today
I can tell by the tears on your cheeks you've been cryin,
And I can tell by the look on you face, you've been lyin
I can tell by the fear in your eyes love is dyin'
There's a right time, for leavin', and it might be today
Darlin', oh my darlin'when I see your sweet smile,
And I know that a real love, never goes out of style
I been thinkin', yeah me thinkin', that if we give love a try,
That the right time, for leavin', might never come by
So here we are talkin, about a love that's gone wrong
When we should be here talkin', about a love that is strong
If we end it right here, we're only cheating ourselves,
maybe this ain't the time, to put us on a shelf
It's the first time in years, we see eye to eye
And it's the first time it matters, that I don't make you cry.
It's the first time in years, we're acting like friends
And nobody's sayin' that it must be the end
There's a right time, for leavin', but it won't be today
No, nobody's sayin', that it might be today
