MY FUNNY VALENTINE

Song Length 4:52 Genre Jazz - Standards
Lead Vocal Male Vocal Language English
Era 1940 - 1949

Nice prominent, clear percussion, unusual in jazz recordings, laidback groove, unshowy keyboard and bass, cool trumpet, altogether very idiomatic playing. The singing style suggests Frank Sinatra - maybe the song was recorded by him but I have no knowledge of this.

A nice arrangement of a classic song. I wouldn't change the melody on the first verse, ... smile with my heart.... and work of art... you take it down rather than the original melody. Best to give us the melody first than vary it, otherwise it took me away from listening for a moment. Nice voice and like the vocal variation in the repeat. The part after the bridge worked best, less variation and what was there served the piece. There when you changed the melody it made a statement of longing.

real nice arrangement in all recordings etc real nice keep up so to the world bless you
