Story Behind The Song

I wrote this tune for my sister-in-law who moved to Texas to begin a new life after she decided that she would be happier here. I actually went with her to California to bring her belongings to her new home about 25 miles from me and my wife( her sister) It was a grueling 2 day trip but I would do it again.

VERSE 1

I'm leaving California and my past in a cloud of desert dust. I've

got the pedal to the floor but somehow it doesn't seem fast

enough.

This old truck is loaded down with pieces of everything every-

thing that's mine. I'm heading for a new life and leaving all the

misery behind.

CHORUS

No I'm not running away. I'm just going somewhere new to

start all over. I'm not chasing a rainbow or hoping to find a four-

leaf clover.

I'll build myself a new life but I realize it's gonna take some time.

And I'll be better off now that I'm leaving California behind.

This is not just something that came out of the blue. It's a change

that I've been needing and it's long overdue.

I'll get my life in order and make a brand new start. It's the best

cure I can think of for my broken heart.

I bought a small place in a Texas town. I have relatives not too

far away. I took my time to check it out and I know that's where I

want to stay.

I'll set it up the way I like and before you know I'll be fine. Far

away from California and enjoying my new found peace of mind.
