Charlie owns a bar in the city by the bay and he's in a good mood cause the welfare cheques go out today he'll reach behind the jukebox and turn it up a bit put the salties on the tables and wait for the evening shift

When the night falls hard on the city they'll start comin' through the door and there ain't been too much Ol'Charlie hasn't seen before there's only one thing that scares him about tonight and that's if little Raymond and hard hittin Annie get into one of their fights

Now Annie's a large woman and I'm sure she could haunt a house her heart is like a coal chamber that just never seems to burn out she's got one eye staring at the ceiling and the other one staring at the floor so even when she's talking directly to you your really not too sure

Her hair is big and even bigger are her feet if her and little Ray decide to do a little bit of dancin' were all in for a special treat as far as men go little Raymond couldn't get much smaller so he walks around with a chip on his shoulder thinking that makes him look a little bit taller

And he gets a little braver as the whiskey goes down and decides that tonight the night he's gonna start bossin Annie around he yells make yourself useful woman and get me some more rye well Annie don't seem to take that to kindly and above the bar top we see little Raymond go flying by

He lands in a pile of glass he's cut all over and his toupee is half off then stands on a chair to get eye level and says you want some more or have ya had enough

Annie just smiles and puts her drink down the bar clears as she rolls up her sleeves and yells Little Raymond me and you is going to town

And the fight is on Little Ray is givin it his all but he won't give up even after being bounced off every wall and just when he thinks Annie's gonna fold she fires out the big one and lays Little Ray out cold

Annie steps over Ray orders two triples and slams them down throws Ray over her shoulder and say we better get going home

On their way out Annie yells to Charlie sorry about the fight he says don't worry about it not a problem cause he knows he made out alright he says goodnight Little Raymond and Hard Hittin Annie closes up the bar and in a back room counts his money.
