Hey Paul (Pink & White Bridge)....Thanks so much for sending me this song to review. I've listened to it a few times now and it really grows on you !! This story can be told forever it seems. No matter how you say it, it hits home with so many folks !! I especially love the harp and other instrumentation. It fits the lyrics and mood so well. This is a great vibe and so easy to listen to. BRAVO !!
Artist's Submitted Question:
Just a review thanks Joe. You've worked with several legends I basically cut my teeth on. This song is representative of that. Maybe you could point us in a direction where artists require this kind of material? Thanks Paul White (Pink and White Bridge)
As far as my deeper thoughts go on this, I feel that you have nailed it in spots and not quite in others. I'll explain...Where you guys totally killed it was the music, groove, arrangement, basic vibe !!...Really GREAT....the lead vocal is awesome !! Choice of instruments couldn't be better. Drummer grooves hard and steady when he enters the song !!...(which by the way I LOVE)....good teaser til the band comes in.... GREAT idea !!...(especially 'live')...The fact that the song holds up quite well without the entire band is the key here....then when the band hits it really rocks !! I must say, I'm not crazy about the title because it lacks in meaning til you hear the song. I would rather read a title that lures you in....Minor observation of course... OK....now for some thoughts and ideas. Let's start with the vocals (which are my main concern here)....like I said earlier, the lead vocal is awesome...great performance....good read of the lyric and overall great 'passion' !! I do like where the harmonies come and go, but they need some work. I'd like to send this to Graham Nash, but he's a vocal perfectionist and will want to hear more level and sync on the harmonies. You know I toured and recorded for 35 years w/ CSN (Y) and how they approached the vocals is what's needed here. It's not a tough fix just a little work. The problem I hear is minor...just phrasing issues...CSN would work for hours getting all the phrasing in sync. Then you can balance all the vocals equally and not have it sound like a lead vocalist with just back up parts. Paul this is SO very important....Your harmony singers merely have to learn the lead vocal phrasing and work real hard to match it !!! Please understand that I really LOVE this tune and would like to hear it a bit tighter...that's all....I would research the management companies and producers of these type artists and send them this song....I think you'll do quite well...I'll MP3 it over to CSN...GREAT STUFF from you guys !!!
