Paul Kearney’s devotion to music began when he was 4, learning the Suzuki method on piano. He went on to study classical piano and, at the age of 10, also began drum kit and percussion studies. He went on to study at the Victorian College of the Arts and to tour internationally in symphonic bands After experimenting with computers and synthesizers for five years, in 1996 he started transport his love of composition to the electronic realm, composing and producing full time for 5 years. He has since built an impressive Melbourne, Australia, based studio facility. He has spent his time becoming technically proficient on both music production hardware and software, especially Logic Audio and Protools. He has released an album, EP, done several tracks for widely respected compilations, whilst collaborating on several other artistic endeavours. Paul also performs regularly on his armoury of analogue gear. He now lives with his wife and is becoming more interested in the popular music realm.

Paul Kearney talks to Clark Nova about his new album Mainframe…
Having only recently released his debut CD, Paul Kearney is already working on a new album and has also just released a single from his first CD Mainframe and a four-track vinyl EP ‘Faktory Direkt’. Kearney combines a number of electronic sounds and influences and comes up with a mix of electro, techno and deep sounds, plus a little bit of everything in between.
The single, ‘Do Our Thing’ is one of the slower affairs from the album and manages to moves its way through he listener though not quite a dancefloor track it’ll have your foot tapping. In part the track is an attempt to reach a wider audience as Kearney says of how he chose the track. "I listened to a lot of Triple J. I guess it’s the more commercial track on the album…" And this is the direction Kearney is headed in as he strives to make his music more accessible
