Biography of Joe Garant
His life experience, acutely akin to that of so many in this world, is relatable and real, troubled and blessed, filled with love and marred by love lost. Candidly, his heartfelt, passionate music undoubtedly reaches out and ignites the hearts and minds of so many. His unwavering, steadfast approach towards the creation of integral music is appreciated and embraced as seen through the intimate relationship forged with his audience. With a relentless passion to compose and connect, it's only a matter of time before people the world over will experience the fiery spirit and musical fervor that forms the one and the only... Joe was instantaneously suffused with music. As the sounds of Aerosmith, The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen and fellow Canadian Neil Young (to name a few) resonated within and inspired his young soul, Joe began to develop and express his own inner creativity. Joe's grandfather (Pops) taught him how to play the ukulele, which was his first experience with a musical instrument. These lessons would pay dividends soon after as Joe moved on to pick up his first guitar at the youthful age of eleven. Prior to him playing what would later become his instrument of choice and companion, Joe remembers having always written poetry and lyrics even before knowing how to play guitar. As a result of his early discovery of a true passion for music, Finishing high school, Joe moved out to the big city of Toronto to further develop his growth as both an individual and a musician. What began in Toronto in May of 2006 and would be completed post Toronto in May of 2008, Crow's Feet was a true success by its completion and something Joe felt entirely proud of having made. Though 2 years in the making, the dedication to the quality of the album is more than apparent. Crow's Feet is an introspective look into the lifetime of experiences Joe has been through in his first twenty-six years of life. Songs such as Leap of Faith and If I Give Up Now, which respectively open and close the album, express the determination and passion through the good times and the bad, the fire and the cold, to stay the coarse and to uphold self-belief no matter the obstacles that may befall you. Others such as Follow Me Home and Last Goodbye address subjects of love and relationship, longing and sorrow. All-be-it heavyhearted and actual, Joe always finds a way to invite the listener in with a warmth of optimism that speaks of seeing the positive and relinquishing the unpleasant. Joe's strident vocals, coloured by a gentle raspiness, deliver his thoughts and emotions fervently and with impact. His firm, skillful guitar playing only enhances the listeners experience as Joe's true emotions flood out of every cord just as loudly and truly as they do his voice. Now, with the completion of Crow's Feet, Joe looks to advance his album to a much wider audience. Joe successfully debut his album at his cd release party at Toronto's Free Times Cafe in July 2008. Since then, other, equally successful shows have transpired much to Joe's delight. The audience response has been nothing short of incredibly positive and embracing. Deriving from all of the encouraging feedback, Joe aims to persevere and move forward in his career. Having worked with Producer, Everett Ravestein (best know for his work with The Barenaked Ladies, Chantelle Kraviachuk and Rush) Joe has experienced the highs of working in the studio to the not so highs of working as a roady. But given it all, Joe keeps the faith alive. He looks towards the horizon and sees the sun is rising. With a refusal to quit striding forward, Joe openly shares with everyone that very message of persistence and self-belief. As heard in Joe's song If I Give Up Now, it would all be for nothing if we were to give up now.
