What would you do if music started coming to you in your dreams? That's what happened to me about ten years ago. At first I couldn't remember the song in the morning. Then I taught myself to wake up and "sing" the tune into a tape recorder in the middle of the night.
The next step was to write out the music and find a good sound engineer and arranger. So, that's how I compose. Enjoy!

David Savage, Composer

I compose all kinds of music, most of which comes to me in my dreams.

My first project was in 2005-6 with Andy Armer, who I discovered in my small town of Bend, Oregon. When I walked into his house, I saw a gold record on the wall. Turns out Andy co-wrote the hit tune "Rise" for Herb Alpert in 1980. In addition to being a great sound engineer and arranger, Andy's also a fantastic jazz pianist.

Andy and I did nine tunes together (all instrumental). Nearly all have a "theme tune" kind of sound to them.

In 2006 I moved to San Diego and met Peter Sprague. Peter's "ax" is jazz guitar and like Andy he runs a studio out of his house. Peter is a master improviser and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He has many creds, including playing with Chick Corea, Hubert Laws and Al Jarreau and touring for two years with David Benoit. Peter worked with me on "Jazz Tonight", "Aruba Nights" and "Siempre En Mi Corazon".

On the tunes here, I've hired out all the performing. My instument, the hammered dulcimer, just didn't seem to fit. However, I do have one album of my own out. If you like the dulcimer and/or Celtic music, see the link under "albums".
