Some say Neo Vauhhn's route to music is so indirect, you may need a map to figure it out. But the Communications Specialist turned Workflow Planner turned Database Programmer turned Operations Director turned Musician doesn't see it that way at all. It's about evolution, says Vauhhn, learning what you can at one level and taking that with you to the next. I'm on the route - the direct route - I'm supposed to be on.
I always knew music was going to be it. I didn?t really ever know how it was going to happen, but it?s amazing what you can do when you just believe it. An advocate of self-education, outside of the Communications degree he earned in 1994, Vauhhn's professional life is colored with self-taught skills, including the music he currently arranges and writes. Although, I don?t think I ever said I wanted to program databases or run operations departments when I grew up, but I knew I was learning it all then to start applying it to life now, says Vauhhn.
Life now includes one independently-released CD, Broken Perfection, under his belt. His second, Cirque, is anticipated for an early 2002 release-- one he hopes not to release on his own. Independent releases work for a lot of musicians, says Vauhhn, I'm not one of them. I'm setting my sites in a different direction.
