Coming from a Mexican and Armenian background, Mariette was brought up with many musical influences. "My father would always play music ranging from French classics such as Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour, to Armenian folkore and revolutionary songs to Latin music. However, at an early age, I was mostly drawn to popular music", she says. Mariette's many favorites include Shakira, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.

Mariette began building on her passion from a young age. Having long been told that she had been gifted with a beautiful voice, the songstress decided to take large strides in further developing her vocal abilities. After starting initial training at Glendale Community College, she later took instructions from Charles Music and then enrolled in Vocal Power Academy. "I don't want to be sitting on a rocking chair one day miserably regretting that I never even tried. Sure it gets quite exasperating at times- but no guts, no glory, right?"
