Billy Moon plays pop and rock with a thread of acoustic running through it. They are led by lead singer and songwriter, Kristy Karen Smith. Joining Kristy are Steve Smith on drums, Alan Paisley on bass and Bruce Hazen on guitar. These four friends have been playing and perfecting the Billy Moon sound since 1995. Both their live performance and recorded work is notable for their delivery, which is highly polished and accomplished, yet fresh and honest. Their sound is vocally rich, melodic, and very memorable. Kristy's lyrics are powerful and her voice is lovely. Listeners feel personally spoken to and easily weave Billy Moon's songs into their own experience.

Bio

Growing up in California, Kristy took guitar lessons at age ten from a true hippie and had the chance to play music with him and his friends in their carport-turned-barn. They sat on bales of hay and played music for hours. This was Kristy's first performing experience (outside of her family) and she took to it easily. These cool strangers seemed to be impressed with her talent and they looked forward to hearing her perform. That experience secured her desire to play for an audience.

Voice lessons followed at age twelve and she began performing show tunes at nursing homes with Project BETTE (Bringing Entertainment to the Elderly). The enjoyment that showed on the faces of her listeners furthered her own enjoyment and the deal was sealed. She would always perform.

At age fifteen she played in her first band, Full House, at the King County Fair. She went on to perform amidst the excitement of Nashville at the famous Bluebird Café. She sang original songs "in the round" with her friend and songwriting partner, Laurie Webb, and they received a standing ovation. Their song, "Falling for Me," later appeared on the soundtrack of the Sylvester Stallone movie, Driven.

Next came her experience with local favorite, 3 Track Mind. This band released two cd’s; Mighty Big Therapy in 1994, and Living Room in 1996. They performed as members of Mare Winningham's band in the movie, Georgia. They also opened for Paul Rodriguez and Joan Baez at the Seattle Opera House, which resulted
