Michael “Mike” Amoriello plays (mostly) original music in the folk-pop style of James Taylor, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin and Cat Stevens. He grew up listening to a variety of music, from church hymns to Led Zeppelin but was most influenced by the Beatles, the Moody Blues and the Rolling Stones.

Mike has been writing songs since he was 15 and began to write seriously just prior to moving to the South Jersey shore in 1986. He writes in a variety of musical styles, from blues forms and jazz chords to simple children's songs, with intelligent lyrics and singable melodies.

Mike has been performing a blend of humorous, serious, and romantic songs at coffee houses and festivals using his mother's maiden name (pronounced uh-MOR-ee-EL-o) since 1995. Mike has focused more on writing and performing for children since Gabe (in 2000) and Isabella (in 2002) came along.

As one of the co-founders of the Garden State Songwriters, Mike has hosted a monthly open mic night for aspiring singer-songwriters at the Mays Landing, NJ, Borders Book Store since 1999. His musical mission is to write, perform, encourage and promote original music in the folk tradition.

Composer of more than 100 songs, Mike has produced one CD, Seven Down, featuring 10 of his original songs including: No Woman Blues, I Don't Know If It's True, Roll Over, I Love Rock 'N' Roll, The Way We Used To Be, Heaven Is A River, (When I Am) Bigger, Princess, Box of Memories, and Ooo, La, La, La .
