English pseudo-intellectual rock. Doves-Coldplay-Radiohead... big guitars, Pink Floyd’s Hammond organ, grit, wit and above all, a BEAUTIFUL chorus!
Bikini Test Failure is the newest alternative guitar noise out of Manchester, UK.
Tracks from the debut album, “Another Day, Another Fat Pile OF Cash” have been receiving tons of airplay across the US and Canada – over 100 Alt.Rock & AAA radio stations in 38 States so far – as well as 70 stations at home in the UK. Australia’s Triple J has tipped Bikini Test Failure as “One to watch”.
Following instant radioplay in the States and UK for BTF’s debut EPs, “Are We Having A Good Time Yet?” and “Star”, Blague Records quickly found useful independent distribution deals (Pinnacle/Native Music in the UK, BCD Music in the US) but is now ready to capitalise on all this amazing exposure. CDBABY are doing a fabulous job selling BTF CDs and last month ITunes and 15 other digital download sites took on the album!

In case you weren't already aware, Bikini Test Failure IS Manchester's James Hill. His label, Blague Records UK released four singles with his previous band BLUNDER, but using Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters solo/label-model Bikini Test Failure is purely a solo effort, written, produced, sleeve-designed, tea-brewed, the full ego-trip-control-freak thing.
Following instant radioplay in the States and UK for BTF's debut EPs, "Are We Having A Good Time Yet?" and "Star", Blague Records quickly found useful independent distribution deals (Pinnacle/Native Music in the UK, BCD Music in the US) but is now ready to capitalise on all this amazing exposure. As with all singer-songwriter-label-bosses, James is constantly torn between promoting the latest tracks and recording new ones and has spent the past few months doing acoustic radio sessions at stations around the UK, with a similar promo tour of the States lined up for January. Meanwhile, the follow-up BTF album is already demoed and ready to go.
"I'm yet to come across a Music Director who hears "Are We Having A Good Time Yet?" and DOESN'T playlist it," says would-be-megalomaniac James. "That song has been the foot in the door with everyone. After that it's been easy for people to get into "Star" or "Nobody Knows Anything". "Millions" is the closing track and probably the quietest on the album, yet it's had as many spins as the heavyweights like "Star", but hey, it's got a trombone solo! What more do you want!?"

Hi James, Got it this morning and given it a good listen - immaculately produced and presented, sharp well-crafted lyrics, hip knowing song titles and entertaining sleevenotes. I will aim to give "Are We Having A Good Time Yet" an airing at some point in the next week. Thought it sounded good on air - look forward to the next instalment from BTF - the lyrics really are top on that song

Hey James, I am checking out the record right now, and I must say its pretty good. I am gonna add it to our rotation on Monday. Definitely takes a lot of influence from a many English bands before it. Totally see shades of Bowie, Coldplay and The Beatles in the record. Personally I like tracks 4, 2, 7, 10 and 11. So yeah man. Thanks for the record. Totally like it. MD WFNP, NY
Hey James, We did receive Bikini Test failure and it is getting some spins. In particular "Star". Is the CD going for adds? I will definitely try to get it on our charts. I will play "Oxygen Thieves" on my program tomorrow. What are some of your major influences? the Charlatans or Inspiral Carpets? Does the squirrel have a name? Good luck with everything.Cheers, MD KYMC, MO
James,
Just wanted to let you know that I received "Another day, another fat pile of cash." I think it's a fantastic album, I enjoyed the EP that was sent as well. I think it will receive play here at WHUS, a couple of DJs here are Anglophiles and we love British modern rock: e.g. Coldplay, Travis, Verve, Electric Soft Parade, Cooper Temple Clause, Coral, etc. I think your band is right up there with 'em!
