Simple Things

Story Behind The Song

I can relate to my song. And I wrote it for that reason. To remind myself that no matter how down in the dumps I may get, there is always something unexpected and delightful that happens! Simple things like when you expect rain and instead sunshine comes. Or when you plant a seed and nothing seems to grow for a long time. Then, you have a great garden! And lastly. When you're lonely and friendless and never think that will change. But it does, and you meet your best friend ever!

Song Description

I find this one of my most inspirational songs. The singer is surprised three times in the song. One time for every verse. I go through those three examples and each time, the surprise is more delightful. In the end, the singers loneliness is "cured", when she makes a friend that she never thought she would!

Lyrics

VERSE ONE
SOMETIMES SIMPLE THINGS, COME WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT THEM.
A BRIGHT NEW SHINY DAY, WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WOULD RAIN.
AND SOMEHOW IT MEANS MORE, WHEN THE CLOUDS DRIFT OFF AND SUNSHINE SPREADS THROUGH THE SKY,BECAUSE YOU EXPECTED RAIN, AND THE SUN IS A SURPRISE!

VERSE TWO
SOMETIMES SIMPLE THINGS,COME WHEN YOU LEASRT EXPECT THEM.
YOU PLANT A PLOT OF LAND, WITH A HANDFUL OF SEEDS.
AND NOTHING GROWS FOR MONTHS, THOUGH YOU'RE SURE TO TEND IT WATER AND WEED AND HOE.
THEN ONE DAY A SPROUT POPS THROUGH, AND YOUR GARDEN STARTS TO GROW!

VERSE THREE
SOMETIMES SIMPLE THINGS, COME WHEN YOU LEAST EXPETC THEM.
YOU'RE WALKING DOWN THE ROAD, FEELING ALL ALONE.
THEN SOMEONE COMES ALONG, AND HE TAKES YOUR HAND HE'S WILLING TO BE A FRIEND.
THE WROLD SEEMS A BETTER PLACE, AND YOU START TO SMILE AGAIN!
