Story Behind The Song
I was in the second semester of my junior year of high school when I wrote this song. It was right after the Parkland, Stoneman Douglas High School, shooting and being a high school student, the shooting really rocked me. Thinking that something that terrible happened at a school just like mine was such a surreal and scary thought. But what followed the shooting is what broke my heart the most. Instead of focusing on the tragedy and the lost lives, people used the event as something to give them a political platform. I understood that everyone was entitled to their own opinion but I just thought about all those kids and families affected by it and how we were forgetting to care about the heartbreak of the situation. I needed a way to express the inexpressible, and music is usually a great tool to do that so I sat down with my guitar. I started thinking about the shooting, all of the fighting and war, sex trafficking, and so many other heartbreaking things that are happening in the world. People just need to seek peace instead of being so prideful that they don't care about being kind. I just started to play and allowed my soul to communicate all of these things that are so hard to express The title of the song really communicates what is needed. Something More. This can't be all there is. So much war, so much fighting, so much destruction. There's something more that is meant to heal and transform all of the darkness.

Lyrics
Long, Long time ago
Thousands of years have passed
Since dinosaurs roamed the earth
and astronauts took their first steps
on the moon
TV's were black and white
Amelia Earhart took flight
Little girls didn't have to be
scared to walk home alone at night
What a different world we're living in
What has it come to that we are surrounded by headlines that read, 17 dead
What has it come to that we are surrounded by posters and shouting from people screaming for their rights
And I know there's gotta be something more
and I know there's gotta be a better way that doesn't end in war
And I know there's gotta be an end to this fight
So tell me why all we do is fight
Cuz I know we're all hoping for the same thing
That we could live all as one
Growing up I never thought I'd have to be scared
scared to start a family, scared to raise children
But in this world it seems like everyday somethings changing and not for the better
Why can't we just go back to the way when things were simple
why does everything have to become such an issue
when did we decide that our pride is worth more then being kind
oooooooooooooo
What has it come to that we are surrounded by headlines that read, 17 dead
What has it come to that we are surrounded by posters and shouting from people screaming for their rights
And I know there's gotta be something more
and I know there's gotta be a better way that doesn't end in war
And I know there's gotta be an end to this fight
So tell me why all we do is fight
Cuz I know we're all hoping for the same thing
That we could live all as one
oooooooooooooooooooooo
