"Orange Soda" features a six pack of songs written and performed by Ms. Monté, all designed to appeal to the pop song listeners. The recording is an arresting mix of songs that seem like they should be famliliar to the listener, but aren't. Each could easily be imagined radiating through a car radio instead from the independently produced and recorded compact disc. The songs found on "Orange Soda" as well as her other original songs, demonstrate the 20-something year old's quirky sense of humor and sense of fun that is distinctly Michele Monté. Her voice has the power and grit of the singers like Linda Perry of the 4 Non Blondes and Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, as the latter showcased in the band's pop single, "Joey." However, unlike these groups, Ms. Monté's songs are not tinged with darkness; they center on happily-ever-afters and dreams of fulfillment yet to come.
