"Self-produced and self-released, the debut album by Medic offers a welcome respite from the standardized club-friendly EBM, pop-flavored electro, and distorted industrial noise of many of today's underground bands and artists--because it is all of those things and more. From the danceable arpeggios and quirky synth melodies of "Megalopolis" to the hard-driving drum 'n bass touches of "Interferon" onto the sample-laden old-school EBM of "Fear Power" and even more onto the symphonic waves of ambience amid cavernous blips and synthetic squirts on "Radiant Void," Medic covers the electronic gamut effortlessly as each track comes together with intricate beat structures and energetic synthesizer arrangements that are sure to send your head into a tailspin. This music is as much suited for dance floor abandon as it is for more thorough listening through your headphones. Subtle layers of manipulated voices and static ambience permeate throughout the album, recalling some of the studio experimentations of latter-day Portion Control and even some of the more ambient moments of Nine Inch Nails (a statement supported by the presence of certain sound effects from the Precursor mix of "Closer"). The actual melodies are minimal enough to entice the listener, while the depth of the sonic constructions keeps the album from falling into complacent simplicity. Closing the album out is a remix of "Fear Power" featuring Charles Levi providing his trademark bass flair to add to the already frenetic track. While the album is far from perfect, it demonstrates Medic's potential as an experimental force in modern electronic music and raises anticipation for his next release." -ReGen Magazine www.regenmag.com
