People at the gate Ep

With overtones of Pearl Jam and a toned down ‘Seattle Scene’ the EP kicks off as billed as pure Rock n’ Roll. As the record progresses new layers and depths open up and “Don’t Stay Stupid”’s driving Piano gets behind the song and makes everything that much better - vocals, guitar and drums. Following the aching ballad that is “Someone’s Waiting” comes another divine Rock/Pop tune, in the EP’s title track – “People at The Gate.” It rekindles memories of Graham Coxon mixed together with the uplifting qualities of Coldplay’s music. The variation that is shown on this CD is a bright sign for the future. From the retarded jog exemplified in the first song, “Ice Hearted” to the fully-fledged sprint when Cornel let’s his band – ‘The Mind Invaders’ - carry the song (“People at the Gate”). The CD is also brilliantly produced. The levels and dynamics fit each occasion like a glove. Each rise and fall, stop and start is chronicled with the appropriate music to rest against.
