Song DescriptionIt's about those things we know we shouldn't do, the things that aren't good for us, but we do them anyway.
Story Behind the SongI was reading Sylvia Plath's journals and I related to all the self-loathing created by doing things you know aren't good for you. The end of the song refers to the fact that Sylvia Plath had signed a long term lease on an apartment in London and then killed herself the next day. The combination of these events illustrates the battle people fight against depression. Sometimes you lose the fight and it's for keeps.
Lyrics
Wanted some help but not the solution
I choke on the smoke but I crave the pollution
I dream the future right into the past
And I played the game but I lost again
Can we, can we, can we avoid?
What we?re bound to do?
What we?re born to do?
Boy?
Wanted some help but not the solution
I choke on the smoke and I crave the pollution
I dream the future right into the past
I ran the race but I finished last
Can we, can we, can we avoid?
What we?re bound to do?
What we?re born to do?
Boy?
Tunnel vision of the final decision
I?ve got the tunnel vision
Of the final decision
Wanted some help but not the solution
Oh, I choke on the smoke and I crave the pollution
Sign the lease and turn on the gas
Last chapter now I fade to black...
