Lyrics
"Constant Woman"
© 2011 Capers Simmons (ASCAP)
VERSE I
On this day the Lord has chosen,
Oh, my brothers. Oh, my sons.
May you take a constant woman by your side.
Should some changes come upon you
And your wandering eyes do roam,
May you heed your constant woman
Lead your heart home.
VERSE II
As for you, my dears, my daughters,
My sisters and my friends.
May you be all constant women 'til the end.
Though these men may fail and falter
They may trifle and forsake,
May your strength be constant, woman.
Should you bend, you shall not break.
CHORUS
How much of your soul can you leave whole
When you give all, and
How much will remain? You are the same;
You are constant, woman.
VERSE III
May you be a boon, my brother,
May you be a song, my son,
May you find a constant woman never far.
May you be the sky, my daughter,
And my sister, be the stars
May you stay a constant woman,
May you stay just as you are.

Lyrics
"Erased"
© 2012 Capers Simmons (ASCAP)
VERSE I
Ink and paper, glass and vapor
Draw your face and mark it over
In the picture of my future
You will not be.
Paint a canvas brighter than this
Portrait of a brokenhearted
Present me,
When you will be
Erased.
CHORUS I
Far away from here,
I will find my place,
And you will not be there
You will be erased
I will lose my fear,
I will find my way,
I won't shed a tear,
You will be erased.
BRIDGE
Bleach the spotted blood on cotton,
You were there, now you're forgotten.
On the promise of tomorrow,
You will not be there
CHORUS II 50
I'll take my heart apart,
Take out all the pain,
The chambers where you are,
You will not remain.
I won't know your name
I won't know your face
I won't be the same,
You will be erased
~ BRIDGE ~
~ VERSE Ia ~ CHORUS I ~
TAG
I have been your fool,
And I have been to blame.
You have been so cruel,
But you have been erased

Lyrics
"My Star"
© 2013 Capers Simmons (ASCAP)
VERSE I
See the crowd,
Hear them cry my name in cheers,
They are far too kind.
You're not there,
Though you cried my name in tears
When I left you far behind.
PRECHORUS I
"Make it big, call the shots,
Chase a dream, right or wrong;
Be a star," that's what they said.
CHORUS
But I should have made it bigger, made it big enough for two;
Chased a dream I could catch and share with you;
Called the shots, just to call your name.
I'll only be a star if my star will light your way.
VERSE II
Sing and dance,
Sell the hats and the shirts and the songs;
I am merchandise now.
Fill the seats,
Leave the empty space in my heart.
The only ticket has been sold out.
~ PRECHORUS ~ CHORUS ~
BRIDGE
"You'll see the world, you'll have it all,
You'll write your name upon the stars.
You'll be somebody." I believed that, so I chased the fame.
But I saw the world in your eyes
We had it all that night
Can I be somebody to you again?
~ PRECHORUS ~
CHORUS II
But I'm gonna make it bigger, make it big enough for two,
Chase a dream I can catch and share with you,
Call the shots, just to call your name.
I'll only be a star if my star will light your way.

Lyrics
"Thunder And Light"
Ã,©2009 Capers Simmons (ASCAP)
VERSE I
I will be with you when permanent ends,
I will be there when unbreakable bends.
Tonight, I'll be with you when you close your eyes,
So smile; I'll stay until the last laugh cries.
And, if you should fall somewhere on the way,
Then I'll be the one you lean on for strength.
So, stand. I'll walk with you until you can run,
Again. I'll be there till the last lap's won.
CHORUS
Through the fire and the ice
In the thunder and the light,
As the darkness dyes the white,
And the blackness breaks the bright,
As the ocean ends the waves,
As the evening ends the days,
Like a hero holds you tight
In the thunder and the light.
VERSE II
When half of those who said they'd do or die choose
Death, and all the rest who fought for you lose
This, who'll be the last to fall at your shoes?
Guess. I'll fight until the fighting's through.
When the promises they made to you break
In two, these bullets that they've loaded and aimed
At you, I'll be the one to stand in their sights--
Shoot. I'll stay until the last shots fire.
~ CHORUS ~
BRIDGE
How can I make you believe in me?
Here's your proof: I'll run into a building on fire
For you, and climb the burning staircase to find
Your room, and if there's no way out then I'll die,
Too. I will burn with you--
~ CHORUS ~
'Til the promise breaks the pledge
'Til the inside is the edge
I will hold you through the night
In the thunder and the light

Song DescriptionEasy-listening AAA pop ballad in the vein of James Blunt or Elton John, about wanderlust and aging.
Story Behind the SongWhile reading an astronomy encyclopedia I came across an entry on the first map of the moon, drawn in 17th century. The concept of mapping a place no one would go for another several centuries just struck me, and this song came out of that.
Lyrics
"Map of the Moon"
Music and Lyrics by Capers Simmons (ASCAP)
VERSE I
All those new horizons we had never seen
Have all been photographed and published in a magazine
We have boldly gone where no one else had gone before
And stayed there long enough to learn it like our kitchen floor
CHORUS
When all that you thought was just so far away,
Starts to feel mundane
Like there's nothing left to do.
When those uncharted regions, where the dragons flocked,
Turn into parking lots,
Come help me draw the map of the moon,
The map of the moon.
VERSE II
Measure four dimensions of this crazy life.
Asking all the questions 'til we get them right
And I cannot imagine what we've left to find,
But then, I had not imagined what we've left behind
~ CHORUS ~
BRIDGE
Hey, honey, would you shine a light on?
So sunny, would you burn it brighter?
One day, you will.
Someday, you will.
I heard there's a place for people
Like us, would you come with me there?
We'll make it someday.
