The first track from the Exit 8 latest demo ‘Penny Waits’ starts off with a driving bass line followed by layered guitars and hard-hitting drums. The sound swells and eventually fades back to an open verse where an empathetic vocal tells a sad story about a girl who long ago stopped believing in herself. By the time the crunch-filled chorus guitars enter the scene our character ‘Penny Waits’ is contemplating ending it all. With only a glimmer of hope that she will find the strength to start believing, Penny Waits not only becomes our heroine but a damn good song as well.
