"A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence." ~Leopold Stokowski.

Music is powerful and full of life and hope. There is immense satisfaction that arises from the art of puting together simple notes to weave a creative experiencial symphony that is each song. To be able to recreate a passion or share an experience is to join with or learn from other members of our human race. What joy is in that!!! There is no greater power in the world than a thinking mind. May your day be inspiring. Don't lose sight of who you are among what is going on around you. Don't lose sight of hope. You are loved beyond measure! May God bless us, Tonya

Tonya's Bio

Tonya was born and raised on a farm in the little town of Buchanan, Michigan. An all-American girl with a loving family. My dad is a retired farmer and maintenance man at Whirlpool, and my mom is a practicing psychologist/social worker.
The farmland (and lots of time alone) inspired her originally to begin writing songs. Many were lost to the wind and the dirt there. Many more made it to paper to exist today, the first being written down in 8th grade, and the most recent was written yesterday.
Tonya grew up singing and acting in church... a wonderful church called Buchanan Christian Church. She also sang and toured around with her family in the Batterson Family Quartet, singing alto and playing the piano some. Tonya has enjoyed playing the piano since she was around 3 years of age and taught piano lessons on the side for 9 years, loving every minute of it.
Writing is a passion and a therapy for the little 5 foot girl, and she pours her heart into her songs, even the fun little ones. Many life experiences reveal themselves through her work- good and bad.
Tonya graduated high school from First Assembly Christian School in 1992, graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Pre-Medicine from Western Michigan University in 1998, and graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Audiology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2003. She most recently has a doctoral degree in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences. She met her husband Nathan and they married in 1998, and Zachary was born in 2005. Unfortunately, they divorced in 2009, but Zachary is the focal point of her life.
Wherever Tonya has lived, she always strove to sing her songs, whether in church, in fairs, in malls, etc. Many churches sing her songs for praise and worship to this day. Tonya believes, "There is no greater joy than to share with others what you have been blessed with." Songs, to Tonya, are her blessing... her gift.
In addition to authoring many (close to 300) songs already, Tonya finished writing her very first novel and her first nonfiction book about hearing loss. "Creating, I believe, is the greatest challenge and privilege that God has given me," she states. "I just want to be really good at it and maybe help someone else along this journey we are all on." She is currently a member of the Peanut Butter Company in Florida and gigs about 2-6 times a month. She is also available for performances and speaking engagements, which she enjoys.

Hope Youth Ranch

I want to take an opportunity to talk to you about Hope Youth Ranch, based in Spring Hill, Florida. They are a safe haven and home for abused, neglected, and troubled teen girls that have been forced by circumstance into the foster care system and have fallen through the cracks. This worthy faith-based institution is based on a home ranch concept, and equine therapy is used with other forms of counselling. The girls are rehabilitated with an 80% success rate, much higher than is usually found in the traditional foster system. Check it out at www.hopeyouthranch.org .
