Songwriter and lead singer Tom Woodward formed The Henchmen while he was still at College in Canberra, the national capital of Australia. They quickly developed a reputation as one of Canberra's best college bands. Playing at parties and venues around town, their bizarre onstage antics and rolling country punk prog rock songs made them an unforgettable live-act, splitting audiences right down the middle. They performed their cult hit song "Parliamentary Swan Song" on the lawns of Parliament House infront of 10 000 protesters as George W Bush's entourage rolled up the hill, a moment which defined them as an alternative band with a loud voice, not to be forgotten. Next year they are recording their second album with legendary Australian producer, Tony Cohen (formerly Nick Cave, Tex Perkins, Go Betweens). Tom Woodward is prepared to go anywhere around the world to advance the career of his band and his songwriting.

Change the world # 2
There’s all these stony faced and solemn
Public servants at the Olims
Drinking whisky skulling beer
ingesting pain
I’m heading down the avenue
where the junky flats stand proud
where the oldest buildings leave
without remains
There’s booner cars and pedestrians
fighting over William street
There’s women wearing nothing
but their chains
There’s a bunch of sirens screaming
The groovers they’re all dreaming
And the suburban kids
are shaking off their shame
AN’ I DON’T WANNA CHANGE THE WORLD NO MORE
AND I DON’T WANT YOU TO BE MY GIRL NO MORE
I’m swimming in the sea
where the gangs of children flee
On a Saturday night
when things get rough
Baby life is one big show
and it’s a fine line we toe
Between illusion
and make believe
I'm sittin’ in your seat
your black jacket torn and beat
I want you and me
to believe
That y'know god is free
and he roams this city
He’s got tidal waves
and a magic bow
AN’ I DON’T WANNA CHANGE THE WORLD NO MORE
‘N I DON’T WANT YOU TO BE MY GIRL NO MORE
You can rub my dirty feet
‘cause I lie and I cheat
Sometimes I forget
my own name
There’s a .22 on the stove
and a bill in my grey purse
Someone call a nurse
right now
There’s a girl with golden streaks
she came in from the streets
And she’s massaging my soul
with a glove
And I got found in Kings Cross
when my body somehow got lost
I’m born again
and I’m in love
‘N I DON’T WANNA CHANGE THE WORLD NO MORE
'N I Don't wan you to be my girl no more
