Thunderbaum is a six-shooter hard rock band based in Vaasa/Helsinki, Finland. Since 2006, they've played dozens of shows, recorded three demos and earned more than 1000 euros of cash by recycling beer bottles - emptied by themselves. With their latest record "The Rockpot/Norman Bates" these morons of rock prove you rock 'n' roll ain't dead yet. Not convinced? Go catch 'em live - But beware, you might end up smashing a toilet seat with your own face...

The Flavor of Rock, Since 2006!

Thunderbaum rocks.

It all started around January 2006, when the former band of Jay Thunder, Bobby Dollar and Dr.Sausage had come to it’s end. Looking for more rock ‘n roll, action and sweat, they decided to form a new rock group.

Desiring to sing, Jay Thunder laid down his bass and grabbed the microphone. Bobby Dollar (guitar) & Dr.Sausage (drums) clung to their instruments. A long-term friend and player from past band projects, Tommy.B.Falcon was asked to play the other guitar and he joined the group with a good grace. The busiest bass player in Vaasa, Jawbreaker, heard rumours there was a new rock band in town. Simply struck by the band’s spectacular name, “Thunderbaum” he was ready and waiting to be the bass player in the band. Thunderbaum was born.

Thunderbaum trusts in the power of rock. Their musical genre would be easiest to describe as “Riff Rock”, as the band itself prefers. You can probably hear some nuances of Scandinavian rock energy and the drought of Californian stoner rock, not forgetting the influences of godfathers of heavy metal/rock such Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Kiss and Deep Purple. Although Thunderbaum comes to their own on stage they truly invest energy in songwriting, too. Only good songs are qualified.

Despite the band’s young age, Thunderbaum sound like they’d rocked together for years. An obvious explanation for this is the guys’ long history of playing together in several other, former and recent bands. In addition that they sound intensive, you can see and sense the fun they’re having on the stage. And yes, they like to hang out together with couple of beers off the stage, too.

A two-track demo/promo, whatever you choose, was recorded in the fall 2006. The goal of catching the live-spirit on cd was successful, and the feedback has been worth it too. The band is constantly writing new songs, and is craving to hit the studio again.

What’s behind the stupid names? In their music, and in their name “Thunderbaum” the band felt somekind of brotherhood to bands like Gluecifer and Turbonegro. So you can consider the stage names as a tribute to these mighty bands. But mostly, it’s just their common, idiot humor.

Be my guest and taste the flavor of rock, Thunderbaum!

Anxious to Rock,

-Tommy.B.Falcon/Thunderbaum
