I started writing poetry in my teens. I began writing songs at about twenty years old, and hitchhiked around the country 'til I was twenty five. I decided to settle in Nashville for a while, and lived there for ten years. I played "writers nights" back then with Tom House, Mark Germino, David Olney, Steve Earle, and lots of other fellow writers. Now I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I write a regular column in a local paper and play music here locally. I should be sleeping under a railroad bridge waiting for a train, but no, I drink Guinness and eat sushi every chance I get. I have written hundreds of songs and published several albums, and also had many other artists cover my songs. I love my family very much, and own a shoe repair business as my "day job".
