The John Does - Bio

The John Does were a busy team even before partners Jim Roberts, Scott Cresswell and Chris Benelli officially gathered forces and opened their door for business, but that isn’t hard when you’re already working with legendary musicians known to millions of fans around the world.

The trio now offer in-house recording, producing, original songs and music performance services under their newly formed production company, and they’ve made available an edgy rock-pop demo showcasing their unique abilities at all facets of producing great music. “We’re also hooked up with an incredibly vast number of sources for different types of music, programmers and industry pros,” says Cresswell. “It’s a great blend of complimentary talents.” Each member of the team brings their own flavor to the mix as well as a who’s who of credits.

Jim Roberts has produced, performed on or engineered records for John Entwistle (The Who), Kansas, Steve Walsh (Kansas), Leslie West (Mountain), Joe Franco (Twisted Sister), Joel Kosche (Collective Soul), Steve Luongo and Mark Hitt (TorQue) and others. He is an A.S.C.A.P. songwriter and publisher whose work has aired on Good Morning America, ABC World News Now, Good Day New York and various shows on ABC, FOX, ESPN, PBS, and NBC. Jim is on the advisory board of The John Entwistle Foundation. He is also a voting member of the Recording Academy (NARAS), the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).

Scott Cresswell, producer, mixer, engineer and musician, recently released the acclaimed 10- song debut “Souvenirs and Photographs” and has composed and recorded music for HBO and “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy”. He has engineered or mixed recordings by such legendary names as Carlos Santana, Glen Velez and jazz legends John Scofield, Dave Valentine and Danny Gottlieb. He has also mixed music for the feature films “Robots”, “Ice Age” and “Tarzan II”, and spent dozens of hours with Bill Clinton engineering the Grammy-winning spoken word album of “My Life” and the Grammy-winning spoken word album “Still Me” by Christopher Reeve.

Chris Benelli, percussionist, songwriter and producer, has worked on projects for Grammy- award winning engineer Richard Oliver Furch (Whitney Houston, Me'shell Ndegeocello), keyboardist Harvey Jones (Chris Botti, Donna Lewis) and bassist/production manager, Dave Lorentz (Puff Daddy), along with two time Grammy-winning engineer Jim Janik (Nine Inch Nails, Jennifer Lopez). In addition, Chris is also called upon regularly to do sessions for producer/arranger Jon Gordon (Suzanne Vega, Madonna).

“Whether it’s an artist looking to produce a finished product all under one roof to industry professionals needing new music, people can get everything they need from us,” says Roberts. “And in today’s ‘I need it yesterday’ music business, that’s an ideal arrangement.”
