Better than the usual.

Her Bio

“Are you from around here?” That’s what the 19 year old Tashonna Demure continues to hear on meeting her peers, strangers, and the famous in Barbados’s music business. Her bajan accent is there and she still has her Bajan slang and traditions with her. “But it’s the way you carry yourself,” they say.

That same difference these island people see in this island girl is that difference you will hear in Tashonna Demure music. From the ripe age of 13, Tashonna had dreamt of singing and songwriting. It was then she wrote her first R&B song “So Old” talking about being ignored in a relationship and men’s excuses. She wrote a hit in 5 minutes and it was from then she realized her dream was really her talent. Efforts to move ahead in school came as a distracted then but later on Tashonna decided she was going to seriously concentrate on music and its business. “ I began writing more songs and I kept getting better. Every song did not come in 5 minutes but they came. I personally worked on my voice and began to listen to music more often.” By 18, plans were finally being put in place for her music and by 19 she had finally recorded a single. Tashonna Demure wrote and co-produced “U Don’t Understand Me” which was mainly produced by BigStar under Projectbeatz Production. “Sometimes a parent leaves you and you want to know why. Nobody ever sings about that so I thought that I could do a good job at that.” From the time the track begins before she even says anything you can hear the difference in her R&B music. “ It’s not just me, it’s BigStar. His beats are really unusual and I like that.” However, this is just the beginning for Tashonna Demure, with her catchy lyrics, mature vocals and twisted perspectives somewhere in the future Tashonna hopes to be working with influences like Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Usher, Chrsitina Aguilera, her favourite artist and many more. “If you believe you’ll get there, you’ll get there. I still have lots of work to do and I’m ready for it.” Tashonna is maturely ready for her experience, and “sitting in the tour bus” is the most anticipated part of it. On her way, plans are in place for Tashonna’s next R&B project “Back and Forth” which will be featuring Ruby Tech, one of the best in Barbados’s rap music. “U Don’t Understand Me” only sets the tone for Tashonna but by the time “Back and Forth” is released “U will understand her.”
