Swingset Audio is a full service audio post-production and for-artist-by-artist recording studio in downtown Seattle. We feature acoustically treated and engineered spaces, many varieties of microphones and mic preamps, and our DAW is a ProTools LE Digi002-based workstation, running on a quad-core Mac G5. Our facilities also include a dedicated video editing suite with projector, a photographic dark room, and an extensive film grip and lighting rental service. A few words about myself and Swingset, the multimedia firm, gear rental house, and post-production facility I work for. We are a for-artist-by-artist business that relies on it's good relationship with the film and music community, it's dedication to art and artists, and the quality services we provide to keep ourselves afloat.
Partners Sean Porter, Anna Porter and Wing Gee started this venture nearly three-quarters of a year ago, and along with myself - we worked to build Swingset's uniquely designed recording studio, video editing suite, gallery/theatre space, and photo dark room from the ground up.
The audio suite includes a large tracking room on floating floors, double-walled with an angled wall and vaulted ceilings. Adjacent is the isolation booth, ideal for vocal or guitar amp recording. And beyond the soundproof glass is the control room, where we feature a ProTools LE Digi002 system running on a Mac Quad-core G5. Every square inch of our facilities is in proximity to an ethernet port, and the internal network of Swingset is run on both onsite and offsite servers.
Our video editing suite is a PC-based Avid HD editing system with a dedicated recording mini-dv deck, two CRT monitors and a ceiling-mounted projector for optional 'blow-up' monitoring. Next door you'll find our full-service photo editing and developement lab, capable of processing black/white and color film, including medium format.
Every other first thursday of the month we hope to showcase local artist's work that we know or don't know - from photography and paintings to short film showcases and music events. Additionally, Swingset has opened doors to educational groups and schools throughout Seattle so that students can benefit from a hands-on education in audio, video, lighting, etc.
Did I mention our film grip and lighting rental service? From high-power HMI's to sandbags, we've got your short or feature covered. Got an impossible shot? Chances are we could build the rig you need to make it happen. Our steadicam rig was designed and assembled by our staff using industry standard components. A great deal of what you see at Swingset was innovated by our staff, and it's been our distinction in the local film culture.

I myself help run the audio recording studio, which I co-designed with our contractor, Big Dave. I also work as an engineer on a great deal of the projects that come through. My focus is on composition for film score. To date I've worked on eight short films and video, and one feature-length film. But a man can't live off of Cinnamon Toast Crunch alone, so I also write screenplays, having recently finshed a third feature-length script. And I can kind of act. Yeah.

You might be asking, "what is it that you don't do?"

Sports. Man I've tried. Whatever.
