Some Things

Story Behind The Song

This is a song about having to sacrifice a rare "love of a lifetime" knowing it was the right thing to do . Circumstances pull the lovers apart. Letting go , a pain never to be healed. It is meant to be sad but exhilarating all at once. The rhythm of the guitars and percussion mimic heartbeats becoming one just for a moment in time. A love for the ages that was never meant to be.

Song Description

This is an acoustic rhythm guitar journey, with beautiful Bruce Hornsby style piano riffs, and fabulous interplay of latin percussion. The tune rolls along like a rhythmic steam train leading into a wonderful acoustic solo. Sweeping vocals lament a love lost, a heartbreaking sacrifice of setting a lover free because it is best for them. A great song for driving with the top down.

Lyrics

SOME THINGS Words/Music S. Haworth c) 2021
V1
Wrote a letter to you today I don't know if I'll post it
All of my feelings on display nothing like the naked truth
There's a train inside my head it's drowning my logic
I'm afraid to test you now even though I need the proof
CH
Oh.........some things are better left unsaid
Some hearts are just too young to choose
I knew that you would love again
I knew that I would lose you
V2
There are people who twist my meaning
Card readers and unbelievers think they know me
I 'll write it down in black and white
Let em think just what they like they're all so phoney
I don't think I ever really got over
Losing the one thing in my life that made me feel alive
Just get into the car and drive
CH
Oh.........some things are better left unsaid
Some hearts are just too young to choose
I knew that you would love again
I knew that I would only lose you
Some things are better left unsaid some hearts can only lose
Bridge
Now it was all or nothing baby, baby, baby all or nothing
I couldn't hold you back.......... but I couldn't let you go
SOLO
