Story Behind The Song
This is the first purely fictional song I wrote. There is no parallel with any of my experiences. However, I have seen the scenario presented in this song in many of my friends' relationships.
Song Description
This song deals with the feelings for an ex brought into a new relationship. It deals with the feelings of love for the new person as well. The subject of the song loves both, and knows that his current love is hurt by his lingering feelings for another. He realizes that he would be happiest by returning to his ex. By letting his current love go, it will hurt her far less in the long run, instead of dragging her along in a relationship that he can't put 100% into. He wants to please everyone, and to do so, he must sacrifice ("walk that line") the potentially satisfying unknown with his new love,

Lyrics
VERSE 1:
Living, coping, giving, hoping all for you
I watch you, in peaceful sleep, I know your deepest hurt
I trust in you, that you will keep, your every desperate word
CHORUS:
If it breaks my heart, and it hurts my pride
If I do my part and it takes my life
I?ll take my time, for you I?ll walk that line
I?ve read the signs, you?ll be just fine, if I walk that line
VERSE 2:
Burdened with thoughts of a different world
Of another time, of another girl
A different place, with another soul
A beautiful face, I used to know
Giving, coping, living, hoping
Giving, knowing, living, I?d sacrifice for you
Hurting you would break my heart
Leaving you, it would be a start
I love you girl, but I can?t change my past
There?s someone else, so our love won?t last
(CHORUS)
CHORUS 2:
If it breaks my heart, if it hurts my pride
If I do my part and it takes my life
I?ll do what?s right, I?ll walk that line
