Turn The Key

Story Behind The Song

Song of longing and waiting for love. Has a double meaning in that it can feel almost religious or inspirational as well as the obvious romantic connotations. Written around christmas and the inspiration came from a traditional kiss under the mistletoe for myself followed by a party. At this I sat and listened as a friend opened up to someone and poured his heart out. Made me think of the unlocking of love in all it's forms and the vulnerability in us all.

Song Description

A song about the vulnerability in all of us and the desire to be loved. The song has at it's key the hook - Turn the key - and the power that love has to unlock this emotion in all of us. An emotional and thoughtful ballad that can make us think about love in all it's guises. The song uses vintage instruments such as a MK1 Fender Rhodes and has a warm wintery feel to it.

Lyrics

Come inside and hide within these four walls
Find sanctuary with all who lie inside
Leave behind the blind, cold, cold night
Step into my light

And It's no sin to come on in and be beside me
Find safety in the comfort of my arms
We'll find a way to turn this night to day
My light'll lead the way

So come on turn the key tonight
Everything's a gonna be all right
We'll find a way to make things ok
So come on turn the key tonight
I'm gonna make you shine so bright
Like the stars up above
So come inside,
come inside and share my love

So come on in little boy blue
Coz I'll take care of you
Leave your pride and insecurities outside
Look into my eyes and and let me be your guide
I'll share my light with you

Solo

Just Come inside its time to get to know me
Though its late I just need you by my side
So come on and turn the key
And share this night with me
My light'll set you free

Chorus x 2
