The Ed Hubble Project is a culmination of Smokin’ Ed Hubble’s 40 year quest to master American music as a guitarist/songwriter and his journey on the road of a life much different than that most of us experience.

John Edgar Hubble, III, son of Jazz Hall of Fame trombonist, Eddie Hubble was influenced as a small boy by frequent visits at his home by such jazz legends as Louis Armstrong, Vic Dickerson, and Buddy Rich, to name a few. The blues became a part of Ed’s life when his parents divorced. At the age of eight, Ed was given his first guitar, a 1959 Kay Flattop. In addition to his jazz influences, at an early age Ed was also influenced by the rock band Reo Speedwagon who practiced in a garage a few homes away from Ed’s. At this point Ed’s journey began.

Prior to his incarceration in an Ohio State Prison, Smokin’ Ed, was invited to play on stage with Muddy Waters at the age of 16 and then later opened for Otis Redding. While in prison, Ed practiced guitar 5-10 hours a day, and
