Eric “Smidi” Smith was born January 27 1960 in Covington, Kentucky. Smidi is a self taught musician. His interest in music started in 1968. Smidi plays the Lead, Bass guitar, drums and keyboards. The name “SMIDI” derives from MIDI (musical, interface, digital, integration) Smidi joined the US Air Force 1981 and retired as an E6 2001. During his military career Smidi auditioned and was selected to tour as lead guitarist with the prestigious Air Force “Tops-N-Blue showcase Entertainment Group. In 1990 Smidi was assigned to Nellis AFB, Nevada where he was introduced to MIDI equipment. He learned that he could sequence all of the musical parts from a common computer source. Smidi has sequenced music tracks for well known artist i.e. Leon Haywood, Spice 1, New Birth, Clay Hammond and “Keith Wilder” from Heatwave. Smidi has approximately 2000 tracks in his music library. His goal is to be the first musician to hold a top 10 spot in multiple genres of music.

Currently Smidi is one of the “Senior Music Producers” for Buffed Beats.
