Slim’s new CD, Interstate Medicine, features former members of Counting Crows, 3rd Eye Blind, and Van Morrison & Bonnie Raitt's bands. Produced by Jeffrey Wood (X, the Church), the disc cruises from wind-in-your-hair guitar anthems to late-night reveries with stops for gas and cold beer along the way.
Bandleader Michael Baker’s exceptional lyrics and knack for rough-hewn hooks invite comparisons to Ryan Adams and Pete Yorn, but Slim ups the ante with virtuoso musicianship and rock’n’roll muscle. The result is a highly personal brand of American music, packed with soul, smarts, and passion.
The disc is already spinning at influential college and commercial radio stations, and has won widespread recognition (including a nod from the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a featured spot on the ABC tv show Knock First). As a live act, Slim is packing clubs in the San Francisco Area (Slim's, Sweetwater, Red Devil Lounge), and opening for national touring acts (Luce, the Rapture).
