Sean Turner Bio
Sean Turner began his professional music career as a vocalist, performing as a soloist with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and Metropolitan Opera soprano, Lucy Shelton, in the world premier of twentieth century composer George Crumb's Ancient Voices of Children. He also recieved first prize in the vocal division of the Thursday Musical Competition.
Turning his concentration toward piano, Sean earned a bachelor's degree in music in Jazz Performance from Arizona State University where he studied with Chuck Marohnic.
During his time at ASU he was the recipient of the Louise Kerr Endowment, numerous Regents Scholarships in performance, and Outstanding Soloist honors.
Sean was awarded a study grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to work with internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Joanne Brackeen in New York.
Music has led Sean around the world on numerous tours to Europe, Russia, Romania, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the United States.

Sean is the author of two instructional texts: "Write Your Own Music!" and "Contemporary Keyboard Playing". He has also produced a new book of arrangements for solo piano from his award winning CD "Lullabies for Children and Adults". His newest CD of contemporary jazz. "Begin Again" was released in January 2006.
