“This is great
Ready to go...this could be released right now and put on the radio and marketed towards alt country folks and sell like crazy. Reminds me of modern Johnny Cash...well done.”

“Resurrection of Johnny Cash!!!
This is very, very good. I would listen to it again. The Johnny Cash influence is duly noted. Best thing about this song is the mood it creates. I feel like I'm out riding on the Western plains looking at the empty mountains and feeling blue over a lost love...ahh, I need a drink. Lyric is solid, and vocal delivery is dead on. Maybe I'd rock it up a little bit at the end, but overall there ain't nothin' wrong w/this one.”

“deep jim morrison vox.good tight mix.theres a folky feel and I love the harp.lyrically strong as well. “

Scott continues to win fans over everywhere he plays because of the songs, his strong voice, and guitar style. He is oft compared to James McMurtry and Johnny Cash because of his low baritone voice and acoustic presentation, but Sparks’ songs are all his own. Refreshingly real and authentic, he has an excellent sense of melody, and a has a stream of consciousness style of writing.

Sparks occasionally plays a cover by Townes Van Zant, Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Waylon Jennings, and other Texas giants. But he is just as likely to play a cover from Iron and Wine, The Weakerthans, Ozzy Osbourne, or Little Feat.
