The Synics are a three-piece rock band whose music incorporates elements of classic rock with a twist of harder-edged tones as well as the occasional softer acoustic number. Their second album "The Petrarch Loop" is on the cusp of being released by their indie label "Rostfrei Records"
The Synics Bio
The Synics are a three-piece rock outfit from Ottawa Ontario whose music has been aptly described as ?retro-esque with a danceable brain? (Ottawa journalist Phil Jenkins).
Their style falls somewhere between the pop sophistication of XTC and the hard-rock aggression of Audioslave and Led Zepplin. Their sound is guitar-driven, song-oriented and played with a refined garage-band sensibility.
Formed in late 2000 the band has been gigging extensively and has been creating a buzz with their fast-paced and energetic show. Paul Symes, manager of The Black Sheep in Wakefield Quebec has said ?they were amazing; I?d never seen the place like that before they had people dancing on the bar and on the pool tables?.
Their first CD, ?The Synics Are? has been described by DJ Kath Thompson (of ?The Bear? FM 106.9) as ?intelligent and mature?reminiscent of ?The Replacements??. Presently they are in the midst of recording their second CD (tentatively called ?The Petrarch Loop?) to be released on Ottawa independent label ?Rostfrei Records?.
The three members are:
David Campbell-guitar and vocals
Pat Maher-bass and vocals
Chris Honegger-drums and vocals
