I was born performing for people, and I want to do that for the rest of my life. After fiddling around with what seemed like "logical" professions, I decided to throw that aside, and go for my dreams. I do not currently have a band, all I have is myself, and my little keyboard. I just haven't found the right musicians yet.

Miss Raquelashakti

Miss Raquelashakti, is actually, Rachel Sachtjen (maiden name Marquez). I was born March 14th, 1987 in Sterling, IL. Exciting, right? I come from a mother who wanted to be on Broadway, but her parents told her she needed to pursue a "real" job. I'm happy to say that instead of following in her parents footsteps, my mom decided to encourage me to follow my dreams. So I am. I started singing for crowds in church at the age of 3. I sang for my first wedding at the age of 10 (I don't think the bride realized how old I was...). I have also sang for various benefits..and the list goes on. I'm someone who needs something.."different". I don't want to be the cookie cutter "hot" girl, and I don't want to write songs just because I think they'll be "hits". I write what I feel, and my songs get very personal. I like to play very melodic songs, that can build into so much emotion that you can practically hear me scream. I will be something big one day...it's just a matter of when.
Some of my inspirations are: The Notwist, Denali, Murder by Death, with a hint of Circa Survive mixed in. (I love their guitar melodies), and Vedera.
