Kenneth "Phloboy" Bankhead

Kenneth M. Bankhead Jr. was born and raised in Muskegon, MI. His musical journey began at the age of 9 after his mother discovered he had an ear for music and placed him in piano lessons. Although the lessons didn't last long, Kenneth didn't stop there. He soon joined his elementary school intermediate band playing the drums and was immediately moved to the advanced band. He received a scholarship to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp where he was able to play with musicians from all over the U.S. Allowing band to become a permanent part of his school years, he found time to take on other musical endeavors along the way.

Kenneth acknowledges Vickie Miles, whom he met while playing in the church, as being his first mentor. Vicky is an established musician who found the time to pass on many valuable lessons on playing the piano. This proved beneficial when he later became the minister of music at Living Word International Christian Center of Fresno, Ca., where he served for 5 years. Here, he gained experience in writing, arranging, teaching vocals, and sound reinforcement.

Upon returning to Michigan, Kenneth brought with him a new found love for producing. Laying down idea after idea, a better understanding was desired. Washtenaw Community College became the first college experience for him. He enrolled into the Music Production Program designed and directed by John E. Lawrence, one of Michigan's most talented and respected guitarists. Here he received a broader vocabulary in sequencing, recording technology, computer applications, sound reinforcement, and producing and arranging. Receiving extra help from artist and instructor Mechael E. White, he gained the tools necessary for success in the next level of his musical career.

Kenneth has produced tracks for several emerging artists, played at several musical engagements, and currently has his own production company in the works. He plans to make a lasting contribution to the music industry in every area attainable.
