Phil studied to grade 8 theory at the RCML under Prof Jeanne Byrne. At 16 he went on to work in Lad Lane studios where he was assistant engineer and recorded many well known Irish bands first demos, whilst still gigging in Ireland with Wiskie Styl, The Druids and others. Phil moved to London and toured the UK Europe and USA playing with other world class musicians. Phil has worked with members of the following bands, Them, Jetro Tull, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, The Fixx, Taj Mahal, Wings, to name just a few. He was mentored by the late Gus Dudgeon (Elton John fame) who recorded some of his songs in an attempt to launch his band to stardom. After working in many rock bands and also dance club bands in London, he continued his musical career as a producer / arranger, working with other artists in his own studio in west London. He continues today to write songs and occasionally can be seen gigging around the UK at festivals, also in church on Sundays at St Nicholas Perivale.
