Philip Moore was born into a musical environment, or one could say, music was birthed within him. A native of Houston, Moore likens his family to a Texas version of the Jackson Five. His father played guitar, his brother played drums, while his sister and mother played keyboard and sang. From age five, it was apparent to the Morre family that young Philip possessed the gift of music. After hearing his siter butcher a Shirley Caesar song, a five-year-old Moore sat down at the piano and played the song by ear, correctly.

Like many musical greats, Moore's roots stem back to the church. His father was a preacher, his mother a missionary, so it was second nature for Moore to begin playing the organ, piano, keyboards and drums in church. While still just a young boy, Moore eventually, began playing keyboards at three different churches, conferences and special events but, still hadn't found his niche.

Playing around with albums in a friend's home led to a stint as a deejay in high school. Moore began experimenting, cutting records and recreating beats adding his own style. It was then that he realized producing music was his true calling. Immediately after graduation, he began pursuing a career as a producer.

While gospel earmarked his beginning, Moore is candid about his love affair with many genres of music. Equipped with natural talent, his ability to read and interpret music, and his knack for tapping into what's hot, Moore is the definition of a triple threat producer.

Moore knows his unique combination of musician and beat maker make him an endangered species when compared to many producers of today. Rather than sampling, he prefers to take a sound and create something fresh from it. "For me, music is about taking a feeling and creating a beat or even a song from that feeling," he says. "When you combine good music and put good beats together you keep 'em dancing and keep 'em rolling,"

Moore's star is steadily rising as his list of clients continues to grow. His work with jazz artist Ron Brown, Soul Fruit, Lawrence Overshown, Verge of Life, and Col Cutz, along with his collaborations with super producers Ron Lawrence and Shawn Blaze, are contributing to Moore rapidly becoming a hot commodity. He has numerous projects tin the works, including a compliation CD featuring legendary producer Teddy Riley, and a gospel project that will feature live instruments.

"What I try to do with an artist is bring out their best characteristics. I learned that from Quincy Jones," Moore says proudly. "Producers should compliment the artist; it should almost be like a marriage."

Moore looks forward to creating beats and music that will be around for decades. With mentors like Quincy Jones, Duke Ellington, the Isley Brothers, and Dr. Dre, it's obvious Moore is all about longevity, diversity, and cultivating his craft.

With his unique musical talent and creativity it's clear Moore will be creating memorable marriages for years to come.
