Peter has studied classical guitar under a maestro from the Palermo Conservatory in Italy, and trained with Greg Douglass, formerly of the Steve Miller Band. His influences include musicians: Puccini, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, Muse and Johnny Cash; writers: Sherman Alexie, John Kennedy Toole and Graham Hancock; artists: Michelangelo and Banksy. Peter also draws inspiration from the two years he spent studying art and music in Sicily.
It was in Sicily that Peter began to merge contrasts: darkness and light. Where ancient ruins survive alongside modern urban chaos. In the din, you hear traditional folk songs, the musical cry of the street vendor, American rock and Italian opera. These mixtures manifest themselves in Peter Soros’s music.
Peter also gigs with San Diego band "Without a Motorcycle".

Turmoil and Peace

The sound and experience of rain striking the metal and glass of your car while you quietly sit in it, is the best way to describe the music of Peter Soros. It’s an experience of cleansing and gentleness, while at the same time chaotic and untamed. Peter’s music and performances are at once supple and powerful.

Having dedicated the past twelve years to his music, Peter has studied classical guitar under a maestro from the Palermo Conservatory in Italy, and has also been trained by Gregg Douglass, formerly of the Steve Miller Band. Peter has played in several bands and has performed in places as diverse as bars, clubs, a bowling alley, a 16th century chapel and plays weekly at a private spa resort in San Diego. His influences include a variety of musicians, writers, artists and philosophies. From the sounds of Beethoven, Puccini, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, Rage Against the Machine, Muse and Johnny Cash; from the stories and theories of writers like Sherman Alexie, John Kennedy Toole, Robert Pirsig and Graham Hancock; to the physical creations of artists such as Michelangelo and contemporary graffiti artist Banksy. Peter also draws inspiration from his trek across the United States in an 18-wheeler and from the two years he spent studying art and music in Sicily.

On the ancient island of Sicily, the Greek and Roman ruins survive alongside modern urban chaos. In the din, you can hear traditional folk songs, the musical cry of the street vendor, American rock and Italian opera. It was here that Peter began to merge contrasts: darkness and light, turmoil and peace, lament and laughter. These mixtures manifest themselves in Peter Soros’s music. Sounds that have no bounds and lyrics that weigh like a ton bricks.
