Nema

Nema was born in the late ‘70s in Riverside, Ca. At age 14 his mother passed away. A family friend gave him a guitar; his uncle bought him a Mac, (before Apple was cool) and Nema “borrowed” a karaoke machine from his father’s church. They thought it would take Nema’s mind off his loss. Throughout his middle and high school years Nema spent half his time getting into adventures (still does) and the other half progressing with various musical instruments (including voice) and hardware/software he’s owned.

By 18 Nema acquired composition and recording experience. He started composing because he was uncomfortable playing other peoples tunes. Nema says, “I started recording instantly for the pure fact that I did not want to forget any ideas, I believe all ideas are crucial, you never know when they come in handy.”

After graduating high school Nema worked at his fathers store in Calimesa, CA, where he ran into a friend who was coincidently starting a band of his own. He heard through the grapevine that Nema was “a sick ass guitarist” in other words he heard that Nema was amazing. So he asked him to join. Nema jumped at the opportunity to do something extraordinary. Through playing live music Nema found an escape from life’s daily grind.

At the early age of 19 Nema formed Stolen Thought, a power alternative/rock trio. He wrote and recorded all the songs. They played shows all over Southern California including the “Sunset Strip” for a span of 4 years.

Stolen Thought disbanded in 2002 due to creative differences. During that period Nema joined many bands, primarily focusing on composing in different ways and styles. He says, “One thing I don’t like to do is keep things stale in writing.” Nema was running 4, 8, 16 track self contained digital audio workstations and multi track tape machines. Nema maxed out his fathers AMEX to purchase, unauthorized, his first Pro Tools rig. He says, “It was clearly another level using my laptop with Pro Tools, my dad was pissed but he got over it.”

In 2004 Nema took a six week course at Future Rhythm in San Jose, CA. He earned his Digidesign Pro Tools operator certifications for post production and music production. In the same year he earned various Microsoft, Apple and CompTia certifications as well.

In 2006 Nema founded Limitless Records and has been in business ever since. In 2007 Nema currently released his E.P. entitled "...of the record..." and is producing solo artists and bands in Hollywood, CA as well as working on his debut LP and upcomming masterpiece "avalanches and ashes" due to release in late 2007. Nema's band Selma 420 will be soon hitting the stores as well.

Many artists have paved the way for Nema. Such as Jeff Buckley, Alice ‘n Chains, Queen, Linkin Park, Nas, Metallica, Dr. Dre, Lennon, U2, Pac, Nirvana, Incubus, The Muse, Radiohead, Blink 182, Oasis, Beatles, Eminem, Hendrix, NIN, Jay-Z, Doors and Korn etc. Nema’s influences range from all forms of rock, pop, metal, alternative, hip-hop, jazz, classical, folk, electronic, country and blues. Nema adds, “Pretty much every genre has something to offer me.” If you have a thirst for passion and are ready to be inspired by Nema’s labor of love then stream the tracks and enjoy the future of music.
