Lerix Bio

The Brooklyn based emcee has been infatuated with hip-hop music and culture since the age of 14. His infatuation was sparked by the influence of his older cousin Hank Love. Hank Love was the co-host of 105.9's "Hank love and Half-Pint show." Every time the show aired Lerix would attentively tune in to hear new music along with interviews and discussions on hip hop music culture.

The infatuation turned into an obsession and soon after he began writing songs, and joining in lunch room ciphers in high school with his friends. During those years, he created a style that was lyrical, creative and funny, earning respect among his peers.

Lerix began recording his songs and working with other underground artists, building great relationships in the music scene. Eventually Lerix had gained the opportunity to meet with record A&R's. Unfortunately the labels wanted to cash in on more of the hip-hop music that was becoming popular at the time. Many meetings had come and gone but all ended in the same. Either they were looking for someone with more "street appeal", or someone to with more party songs. It didn't take long before the business end of the music industry pushed him into giving up rather than compromising what he loved.

The years spent out of the scene gave Lerix the opportunity to grow up and gain new perspectives on life. Although he was not recording music, Lerix still continued to write songs After 4 years of trying to find a new career, the search helped him come to the realization that music is the only thing he is passionate about. Since then Lerix has not stopped writing, recording and preforming music and will probably never stop
