As a singer/songwriter, Lee Alexander throws his 2 cents into a huge chasm between REM and George Gershwin. As a veteran of the Houston music scene, he has performed in some of the city's most prestigious “almost made it” bands, which include The Sheila Marshall Band, Crash Comfort, and Grey Eyed Athena. He both writes and produces his own music, playing most or sometimes all of the instruments himself. Due to the undeniable influence Beatles erratic and unpredictable “White Album,” his style tends to fluctuate with each song, thus escaping the mundane pigeonhole of any particular genre or label. It is quite natural for him to jump from Rock, to Celtic folk, to New Grass, to Blues, to Jazz, to Ragtime, to Latin, to Alternative Country, to American Folk with a totally reckless disregard for the “sameness” so often expected of music artists these days.
