Although Jess sings all his own songs for demo purposes, he's primarily a songwriter at heart with no aspirations of performing. He has over time come to grips with music production to enable him to produce reasonably 'finished ' songs.

He is comfortable writing in a variety of genres to include rock, pop, a/c, country, light jazz, and even contemporary religious music.

He pays attention to the lyrics so that they are not merely poetry put to music, but a reflection of life and experiences in everyday terms. The music and lyrics are always written together, where one drives the other.

His main aim is for established performance artists to pick up on his material.
