Jessie recognized her love for writing and country music at a very early age. Her strongest influences was Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, and Patsy Cline. Through the years Jessie never gave up her dream of becoming a writer, although working to raise her children took priority, she still wrote songs, and poetry in her spare time keeping her dream alive
Jessie received the Editors Choice Award by The National Library of Poetry for a version of the song "Grandma's Are Special" that was written for her Grandma. Later the song was published, and recorded by Bandit Records.
In 2003 Jessie was awarded the ASCAP Plus award by the Popular Awards panel, and the Directors award of merit by Paramount Group for excellence in song writing for her song "That's The Way It Is".
