My name is Jaydi Nevin. I was born and raised under the warm and generous sun of Africa, a place where whispering forests blur the edges of oceans of scorching sand, where raging seas crash down onto quiet white beaches, where good and evil nest in the same tree. My album is like Africa. I love you, I hate you, come closer, leave me alone. I just couldn’t resist the challenge of blending such extreme moods into one product, which would become my album, “Thank u for asking”. I left my home country, South Africa, to explore the globe, and it was during this quest that most of the inspiration and ideas for my album were born. I find it amusing that it wasn’t the overwhelming sunset in Cozumel, or climbing a vast glacier in Alaska that made me reach for my pen. It was observing people, the way their hearts broke, the way they hated and loved and feared that ultimately inspired me to turn my own similar experiences and emotions into song.
