Bittersweet, upbeat and catching like you wouldn't believe, Jason's songs remain in your head and heart long after the last note is played.

In January of 2001, Jason Orr caught a flight to Paris with nothing but a couple of twenties in his pocket. Up to then he had written hundreds of songs, but his days on the streets of Paris were when, as he put it, he discovered himself in his music. Since then he has toured relentlessly, becoming known for his heart-felt and high-empact performances. Curently he is composing and recording music for the Animal Planet series, “Growing Up,” and has been sponsored by Asha to headline an upcoming benefit concert.

A songster with eminently singable tunes, even the sad songs put a smile on your face. Frequently compared to the vocal stylings of and Damien Rice, Ben Harper and Cat Stevens, and a songwriting style influenced by John Lennon, Bjork, Will Oldham and the Flaming Lips, Jason's music is instantly accessible and in a category of its own.

Bio

In January of 2001, Jason Orr caught a flight to Paris with nothing but a couple of twenties in his pocket. Up to then he had written hundreds of songs, but his days on the streets of Paris were when, as he put it, he discovered himself in his music. Since then he's performed in clubs througout southern California, as well as open air concerts high in the Wasatch Mountains. A songster with eminently singable tunes, Jason's music wraps itself around you and resonates long after the songs are finished. Bittersweet with a timeless edge, even the sad songs put a smile on your face. Frequently compared to the vocal stylings of Cat Stevens and Ben Harper, and influenced by the likes of John Lennon, Will Oldham and Damien Rice to name a few, his style remains unique and in a category of its own.

While performing as a solo act, Jason has also actively been involved with The Thrum, an underground musicians community he founded that brings together an aberrant mix of songsters throughout the LA fringe (see www.thethrum.com).

Curently he is composing and recording music for the Animal Planet series, “Growing Up,” and has been sponsored by Asha to headline an upcoming benefit concert at UCLA.
