Nestled in the neighborhood of Old Irving Park in Chicago is the studio and living space of a buried treasure that, slowly, is becoming unearthed throughout the Midwest. Underneath headphones and tangled wires, indie rock artist James Eric composes experimental, ambient pop soundscapes, splicing them with distorted noise rock, and then reinterpreting them for an inventive yet accessible melody-driven backdrop. The intensity's the same, but it's pierced with fierce dynamics now, telling simple truths with a single voice and one man's instruments. This is the sound of a man realizing his own potential. A man that has composed scores for films, won awards of achievement in the fine arts, and had the honor of playing the sold-out Jeff Buckley Tribute Concert at Uncommon Ground in 2005.
